Area Development Manager

Job Title: Area Development Manager

Band: Business Manager/Professional 2

Department: Sales

Reports to: Head of Branch Development

Main purpose of job

Responsible for the achievement of sales objectives and the efficient and compliant operation of a designated group of branches through the development of people in a positive and goal orientated culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • To meet and exceed defined business objectives in the Area through the effective management of managers and staff
  • Formulates and implements clear plans to achieve business objectives, ensuring that the Society’s sales process is implemented in all outlets
  • Coach branch managers to improve skills
  • Acts as a role model - leading by example
  • Build a good relationship with all branch staff
  • Build good working relationships across the branch network, working closely as a team
  • Build strong relationships with Head Office Departments
  • Instill a customer care philosophy within the Area in order to deliver and maintain a first class level of customer service at all times
  • Ensure that mortgage sales staff comply with mortgage and relevant insurance regulation
  • Carry out regular ad hoc checks to ensure all operational and regulatory procedures are observed
  • Creates and maintains an environment in which all staff are continually developing and improving their knowledge, skills and professionalism. The development of high performing flexible teams is a key requirement
  • Adapt leadership style to those of the team and changing business circumstances.
  • Create a "can-do" culture within procedures to achieve desired outcome and goals
  • Is accessible and approachable in order to be an effective communication channel between all areas of the business
  • Through praise, recognition and encouragement, develops and maintains a high degree of motivation and job fulfillment throughout the area, ensuring the staff turnover figures are kept to a minimum and within agreed targets
  • Challenges existing practices and methods, proposing solutions to provide a competitive advantage for the business
  • Promotes the Society within local communities and provides help and guidance to branches in building long standing business relationships
  • Through involvement in special projects, makes a real contribution to the success of the Society

Qualifications Skills & Experience

  • Ce-Map qualified, RMA or progressing towards RMA status
  • Must have a proven track record in sales and sales management
